File 187: Tears of the Space Jockey

Prometheus has landed, and it has great special effects. Story wise we have a problem. Somehow the characters in this film know stuff just 'because', as we never see how they come by this knowledge. All they see is what we see: Giant bald head sculptures, vases, and giant skeleton-like armored dead bodies. It's all to be taken for granted that some alien race created us(we never see it) and that same alien race will destroy us (somehow the characters know this after being on a new planet for 15 minutes.). The only draw for this film is the Alien and Aliens iconography, as if using those props and images will fool you into thinking this film is as great as those were.

Kubrick's 2001 and the Shining all in one shot! Oh yeah, theres a robot named Dave who speaks like HAL the computer, and a young actor wearing bad old man make-up. Why so 2001? This is the Alien universe isn't it?
I remember those guys!
look how big the original is.I gots my questions.
gotta be a joke right?

Perhaps you would have liked it better if the giant head would have spewed weapons out of its mouth like in Zardoz. The giant head should have then flown away.
